Day 1. Illimani-San Francisco

Leaving from La Paz, we headed towards the guardian of the city, the snowy Illimani. As we get closer to the mountain, its size becomes more and more impressive. The walk begins in the vicinity of the San Francisco mine, and we will head towards the pass at 4600 meters above sea level. In the afternoon we will arrive at Takesi village. Camping at 3700mts.

Day 2. Takesi – Pongo

After a good breakfast we begin descending from the village of Takesi to Pongo. We will be able to observe the surprising Quimsa Chata river. Our snack in the open air will take place in the Kakapi area, approximately 5 – 6 hours of walking. Camp near the village of Pongo at 2000mts.

Day 3. Chojilla

From Pongo to the Chojlla mine at 2,280 meters, we will begin our descent to the level of the Takesi River for approximately two hours of walking, to then begin our ascent towards the Chojlla mine. The mine is run by cooperatives and there is the possibility of learning a little more about the work and working conditions of the mine workers. The walk ends at this point, where our vehicle awaits us to return to the city of La Paz.
