Day 1. Sorata-Chillcani
We leave La Paz heading to the town of Sorata aboard our vehicle crossing the highlands to the warm lands of this valley, our mules arriving and the muleteers waiting for us to start the journey through trails that allow us to pass from the warm climate of the valleys, to icy high mountain temperatures. This day we observe inter-mountain crops, in the afternoon we arrive at the community of Chillcani 3450m, to camp at 3650m.
Day 2. Chu-Chu – Anchoma
On this day we reached the highest point in the trekking, the Chu-Chu pass 4650m; then we cross a road passing through several communities, finally we arrive at the town of Ancoma. Campsite 3800m.
Day 3. Illampu-Cocoyo
Trekking in the vicinity of the Illampu massif of 6430m, we will gain a height of 4500, to later descend to the inter-mountain valleys, our camping place is located in the colorful town of Cocoyo at 3500m.
Day 4. Chajolpaya River
We cross a valley, irrigated by the Chajolpaya river. The snowy ones will witness a walk through precarious constructions that go back hundreds of years. Camp at 3,900m.
Day 5.
Through trails, where the vegetation contrasts with the tonalities of the hills, we will appreciate the great tranquility and silence of these places interrupted only by the bleating of the sheep. Lagoons formed from the mountains are large mirrors of water that we will find on this day of trekking.
Day 6. San Francisco–Sorasoran
We arrive at San Francisco lagoon 4,400m where we find hot springs, to then continue descending through fertile lands to the Sorasorani valley, camping at 4,000m.
Day 7. Millipaya-Sorata
Downhill walk to Millipaya 3,500m, then we descend through paths with crops of polychrome tonality, with Aymara communities and small streams until we reach Sorata. Return transportation.
